Black Christmas was formed in the summer of 1984 by Myles Rourke (Guitars), John Bates (Vocals) and Rob Lang (Bass). The concept was to have fun, make noise and drink a lot of alcohol. The musical format was one of a 50/50 mix of covers and originals. Soon after the conception Brian "Sikk Foxx" Malone was brought in as drummer.

In the fall of 1984 Rob was replaced on bass by James "Jake" Shepheard, and Jeff Waters (Annihilator) was brought in as Lead guitarist.

The line-up was now complete for the only show the band played. The Christmas Variety show at Ridgemont High School in Ottawa. 800 screaming people attended the show and was a smashing success. Coupled with the former touring sound man from Ottawa's EXCITER (a band that was having world-wide success at the time) Black Christmas put on the loudest performance of the evening. The band played three cover tunes: Pounding Metal (EXCITER), You've Got Another Thing Comin' (Judas Priest), and For Whom the Bell Tolls (Metallica). The band was asked at the last minute to cut the set short to two songs, but in a typical metal rebellious fashion played three anyway. "This was my first show playing guitar in front of anybody. It was a fucking blast! There was a desk down in front of the stage, where a guy and girl would come out to announce the next act. They came running out when we finished 'You've Got Another Thing Comin". We continued on and played 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' anyway, despite the fact we were told to play only two songs. They sat there through the whole song while we were making faces at the backs of their heads. It was hilarious."--Myles Rourke.

Black Christmas broke up early in 1985, but the experience gained would go to good use in the years to follow.
